POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tissue Culture Associate is responsible for managing Asterand's primary and immortalized cell line inventories, as well as performance of cell and tissue culture components of custom procurement projects. Duties include cell culturing, isolation and characterization in a clean and sterile environment; molecular and protein isolations; molecular and protein isolations. Self motivation, flexibility, multi-tasking and great attention to detail is required to be successful in this role in addition to good project management and communication skills. Also, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that the key issues of quality, timeliness, and above all client satisfaction, are realized.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sustain a clean and sterile environment conducive for cell culturing and compliant with ISO9001 and CAP requirements
Manage work flow of the cell culture department to ensure adequate inventory levels of immortalized cell lines; includes freezer inventory and maintenance auditing
Propagate primary cells from fresh tissue collections
Cell type characterization by the use of IHC, staining, or labeling
PBMC isolation from fresh whole blood
Define the scope and order fulfillment requirements for custom projects
Research protocols and validation of procedures prior to starting custom projects
Identify and resolve any potential issues that may arise during the course of order fulfillment
Manage projects accordingly and provide regular updates to Sales and Order Management
Provide technical support to external and internal customers; includes E-commerce
Isolation of RNA/DNA and protein lysates for analysis and quality control assessment
Perform all routine preventative maintenance on all cell culture equipment
Maintain all department supply orders
Participate in on-call scheduled rotations for special projects
Data entry
Cross ?train within adjacent departments as assigned
Identify and develop improvements in departmental processes
Develop Standard Operating Procedures as needed
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in science or related field
M.S. in science (preferred)
2+ years in cell culturing techniques
Exceptional aseptic technique experience (required)
2 years in Nucleic Acid extractions (preferred)
Experience working in regulated environment ( ISO; CAP accreditation facilities) (preferred)
OSHA laboratory requirements
Experience managing complex projects in a high tech environment
Strong relationship building skills (customer service or sales). Previous customer service experience preferred
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Strong computer skills, (knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Independent problem-solving abilities
Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills, including ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently in a fast-pace, deadline-driven environment
Strong leadership and interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Great attention to detail and record-keeping skills
