We are currently seeking a Program (Outreach and Sales) Representative to be an advocate for the benefits of energy efficiency. Located in our the Northeast section of the United States, your primary responsibilities will be to meet with and recruit trade contractors to maximize participation in utility-based energy efficiency programs that save energy for utility customers. By the way, note that trade contractors are a lively hodgepodge of HVAC, mechanical, and lighting contractors, service providers, distributors, manufacturers, vendors, and architects and engineers, which is why you should have 3+ years of consultative sales, utility and/or trade experience, with energy industry, HVAC and/or lighting experience a plus. Also, depending on your ability to impress, which should be easy breezy for you, this position expands beyond recruitment into areas of training and management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide outreach to promote energy efficiency through the creation and management of formal and informal trade alliance networks.
Provide consistent and timely support as the key contact for potential and participating trade allies for the utility?s commercial incentive programs.
Manage the territory to implement plans, report on market conditions, and identify new opportunities.
Plan, develop, and implement plans to target and recruit trade allies.
Retain existing trade allies through program education and facilitation and/or development of technical, business, sales or other training as identified.
Support trade allies through project qualification, application assistance, or other requests for assistance.
Provide Customer / Client Support as needed.
Manage the project pipeline management through lead development, monitoring through to project completion.
Maintain accurate records of contacts, opportunities and communications in designated database.
Report on special assignments and events as requested.
Provide status reports to manager for upcoming goals, activities and recent successes or challenges.
Other duties as directed.
Travel 75% + within market local and regional.
2+ years of experience in consultative sales/professional sales, account management, outreach, marketing, business management or project management.
2-4 years of experience in professional sales, account management, marketing, business management or project management.
Excellent ability to develop and present business cases to industry manufacturers, distributors, retailers and/or contractors.
Strong experience in planning, organization and self-management in a professional environment is a must.
Ability to council, and sell concepts at all levels of an organization.
Ability to manage multiple time-dependent tasks simultaneously.
Excellent oral communication, writing, interpersonal, sales, marketing and analytical skills.
Experience working in team environment, as well as independently without direct supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and the ability to learn and operate company proprietary computer software is required.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through in a fast pace environment.
Ability to use small tools, ladders and power equipment.
Must have a valid U.S. driver?s license and have a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
BA or BS in business management, construction, engineering, marketing or comparable degree is preferred/ commensurate with work experience
3+ years of experience in lighting, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, building controls, utility energy efficiency programs, energy efficiency design, commercial building construction, or other commercial building-related experience is a plus
Knowledge and familiarity with the Northeastern, United States commercial building market is desired
