Description:The role of UI Architect is a keystone role for our Engineering team. This role provides technical expertise, design, and mentorship not only to the rest of the engineering team, but to the entire organization.
Lead software development efforts from a technology perspective. Including being intimately involved with all technical activities within the team (software development life cycle activities, code reviews, research, etc.). This will also involve mentoring of the core team of engineers.
Work within the Architecture Team on technical, enterprise initiatives. This will likely involve vision setting, researching, training, and all phases of the software development life cycle.
Identify the appropriate software architecture based on the requirements and design elements contained in a system specification, discussions with the business and partner contacts.
Provide across department communication and bridging.
Writing detailed software design specifications or provide supporting information to the Engineers to aid in the creation of detailed software design specifications.
Provide feedback to the Architecture Team on issues/ideas encountered while working within the development project team.
Develop software system prototypes for hand-off to the core engineering team.
Analyze risk and report problems in meeting system requirements.
Break down business requirement documentation into technical specifications.
Self-starter with ability to work with little oversight.
Juggle many different complex tasks at once.
On occasion, this position will require nonstandard work schedules.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field; an equivalent combination of college, industry training, and experience may substitute.
Overall Experience: ten years or equivalent experience in the IT industry
Minimum of three years project lead experience with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects for Fortune 500 customers.
Detailed knowledge of Internet technologies, UI Web Design, Mobile Web Design, Responsive Web, and Hybrid / Native Handset Development.
Deep experience using open source libraries like jQuery and jQuery Mobile.
Minimum of three years of experience working with Java & J2EE technologies.
Experience with multi-tier development.
Experience with many different UI & java development frameworks (Struts, Rails, Grails, Spring, Tapestry, JSF, Vaadin)
Must possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Must be enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences
Must have experience working in organizations where the entire software development cycle from inception to delivery is measured in weeks. You will need experience applying sound software engineering principles and processes in a delivery oriented environment where speed is critical. The ability to multi-task and react quickly to business needs is required.
Must be willing to travel on occasion.
Additional Skills for Ideal Candidates:
IT solution delivery experience in a SaaS organization (Software as a Service)
Experience with many different programming languages (Perl, Ruby, Python, C#)
Experience with databases technologies (SQLServer, Oracle, Hadoop, MySQL)
Experience in UI Security a plus.
Payments / PCI industry experience a plus
Familiarity with Agile development processes a plus.
