VerbalizeIt, TechStars alumnus, delivers instant access to a global community of human translators over the phone, through Skype and via the web. We are disrupting the translation landscape by providing superior quality translation than what is delivered by machine-based applications and at a fraction of the cost of traditional physical call center solutions. In doing so, we create meaningful job opportunities for multilingual individuals across the globe who translate from the comfort of their homes for our customers in need. Our mission is to drastically improve the way in which people communicate across languages by delivering high quality translation solutions to meet the growing needs of businesses and travelers worldwide.
Today, the VerbalizeIt live phone translation and asynchronous translation services are accessed by businesses and individuals through Skype, phone and web to navigate language barriers. Our vision is to transform VerbalizeIt into a platform that seamlessly integrates into and powers every translation application in the world. As a UI/ UX intern, you will be responsible for supporting and leading all front-end design efforts to achieve this vision.
Responsibilities:
Support senior designers throughout the planning, design and implementation of a new website experience
Lead re-design of dashboard that our community of 3,000 translators interacts with on a daily basis
Implement a new on-boarding and training platform used to screen all incoming translators
Craft business development landing pages for outbound sales and inbound inquiries
Create email templates for customer and translator interactions
Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 404 page redesign, SEO and cross-browser support
Requirements:
We want to talk to you if you have, or are interested in honing your skills on the following:
Building wireframes (either by hand or with software) based on verbal or written specs
Creating designs and mockups in Photoshop / Illustrator / Fireworks or similar
Both visual design and user experience design
Strong HTML/CSS skills
jQuery (preferred)
CSS preprocessor like LESS or SASS (not required but a big bonus!)
