Seeking a Ultrasound Technologist for our Diagnostic Imaging Facility. under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, perform all required diagnostic ultrasound procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high quality examinations.
Examples of Essential Functions:
Perform all required diagnostic ultrasound procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgement in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
Screen patient before the procedure for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination. Obtain and review the requisition for examination to obtain information such as procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or any other special requirements.
Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation. Monitor the condition of any patient within the department and assist the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicable.
Comply with company operational and safety policies and procedures. Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and emergency procedures, where applicable.
Maintain the ultrasound equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Check to ensure emergency response equipment is in good working order. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and imaging processing, adequate clinical history and previous studies for comparison (if available).
Practice and maintain standard precautions and infection control policy standards.
Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
Assure that ?patients first? customer service is provided to patients, referring physicians, their staff.
Conduct examinations with regard to patient?s age, condition or other special requirements.
Candidates must have:
Associates degree in applied science or graduate of an accredited hospital based program.
ARDMS and/or ARRT (S) Certification and specialty certification required for each body part specialty.
CPR Certification.
Desirable:
Bachelors degree.
At least one year experience in advanced sonography.
Knowledge:
Ultrasound operating principles and practices.
Patient care standards and requirements.
Quality assurance principles and practices.
Customer service principles and practices.
OSHA principles and practices.
JCAHO standards of practice.
Skills/Abilities:
Set up, adjust and operate ultrasound equipment and use all relevant scanning programs.
Operate a computer with the appropriate radiology software.
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and reports.
Schedule, organize, and complete work in accordance with the required workload.
Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
Requirements
Special Requirements/Certification:
ARDMS and/or ARRT (S) Certification and specialty certification required for each body part specialty.
CPR Certification.
OSHA Class 1 training on exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
May require use of personal vehicle for business purposes.
