Underwriting Assistant International Catastrophe Insurance
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED This role provides customer service and underwriting production processing support for the Middle Market business unit. This role may also support renewal quoting as appropriate.
The primary accountability of the Underwriting Assistant I (UA I) is to provide customer service and underwriting support to help achieve new and renewal premium goals that align with company goals. This role is central to supporting the operational aspects that are part of the underwriting and review process.
Client Service and Underwriting Support
?X Supports the maintenance of agency relationships and provides accurate and timely communication to producer base.
?X Possesses strong knowledge base of ICAT-s product lines and services. Effectively communicates around these topics as needed.
?X Operational processing of the policy is the primary accountability of the UA I. Typically spends 50-100% of their time on processing aspects.
?X Processes new and renewal policies to achieve individual, team and company premium and quality standards.
?X Fills in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods and/or when team members are unavailable.
?X Gathers and compiles information required to quote, and/or bind an account.
?X Processes submissions including logging, clearing and account triage.
?X Prepares and processes standard endorsements, completes templates to prepare manuscript endorsements for underwriter approval when appropriate.
?X Conducts inspection review and analysis resulting in appropriate issue identification and serves as back-up support when an Underwriter is out of the office.
?X Effectively transacts business within their authority.
?X Supports the team-s productions objectives and supports the underwriting and pricing of certain assigned renewal accounts in accordance with ICAT-s underwriting standards.
?X The UA I has no underwriting authority as granted in the Underwriting Authority Matrix.
?X Begins to learn market dynamics, competitive landscape and product differences.
?X Meets all file documentation standards, complies with underwriting and authority level standards, and passes all audits (both internal and external).
Underwriting Policy and Procedure
?X Understands ICAT/s.4242 Underwriting Guidelines.
?X Demonstrates basic understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk underwriting characteristics.
?X Understands and adheres to ICAT-s underwriting processing, underwriting guidelines and underwriting file documentation.
?X Understands the functionality of all underwriting systems (automated and manual) and utilizes these systems as required.
?X Other duties as assigned.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Producer Services Supervisor. This position does not supervise other personnel.

Licenses or Designations
INS General Insurance Certificate, or willing to obtain within first six months in the role preferred.

?X Advanced skills in e-mail/scheduling software applications.
?X Entry-level skills in underwriting and policy processing software applications.
?X Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
