Unix Systems Administrator LiveScribe

Reporting to Livescribe?s Director of Web Services, this Administrator will become an integral part of our highly skilled, passionate, and agile web team. We are seeking an individual with extraordinary multi-tasking skills who has a proven track record for supporting diverse systems including Linux, Red Hat, PC, Mac, and cloud.
Livescribe is conveniently located in Oakland on 880, 10 minutes north of the 880/ San Mateo Bridge junction and we have a free shuttle from BART to the front door.
Job Description:

Work in a fast paced environment with a kick-ass team of web developers
Administer and maintain all applications systems related to company?s online services.
Support medium to large scale web application deployment and maintenance and ensure network security issues.
Provide 24 x 7 tier 2 on call support for production services and internal support issues.
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly and effectively under pressure.
Develop tools and scripts to facilitate improvement and support ongoing maintenance.
Identify, define and write clear and concise technical documentation related to systems and applications.
Install and setup systems as required to support growth.
Work well in a team environment and be able to work with and provide feedback of technical information to developers to identify and resolve issues.
Provide recommendations for scalability and performance improvement.
Work independently on new projects.
Service monitoring and capacity planning.
Writing the company tools as needed (e.g. task automation, data migration, custom monitoring).
Stay up to date on current directions of relevant technologies.
Support medium to large scale web application deployment and maintenance and ensure network security issues.

Specific requirements:

4+ years experience in UNIX administration, including Mac OS X and/or Red Hat type Linux
Strong web skills including Apache, MySQL, Tomcat, and Web Objects experience
NFS / EMC experience, particularly Celera NAS
Experience with scripting languages like Python, Ruby, or Javascript
Strong networking skills:
Ability to work around VPN outages, and or restore VPN
Ability to use ssh for tunneling and remote access; familiar with ssh keys and permissions
Ability to work around firewall issues, light firewall administration
Knowledge of load balancers
Familiarity with Java, Nagios, Amazon Web Services, SVN

Nice to have:

Experience working with remote offices / remote personnel
Familiarity with Jenkins and Rally
Enjoys a good tiki drink
