THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Merrimack Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company discovering, developing and preparing to commercialize innovative medicines paired with companion diagnostics for the treatment of serious diseases, with an initial focus on cancer. Merrimack applies Network Biology, its proprietary systems biology-based approach to biomedical research, throughout the research and development process. Merrimack currently has six targeted therapeutic oncology candidates in clinical development.
We are seeking a talented Upstream Process Development professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and work proactively with various teams across the organization.
Experience managing small groups of both PhD and BS level scientists
Able to collaborate within and across functional lines
Can communicate technical information to non-specialists in an effective manner
Can identify and prioritize critical activities and quickly determine the appropriate course of action
Deeply experienced in cell culture/USP development
o Bioreactor process development
o Cell culture media and feed process strategy development
o Process parameter development
Experience in Media and feed design and development (the what)
Experience in Cell line Development (a nice to have but not essential)
Experience with Tech Transfer of processes to manufacturing
Passion for fighting cancer
In this role, your will play a key role in the development of processes for the upstream production of therapeutic proteins within Merrimack?s pipeline. You will be working with bioreactors ranging from 1L to 100L in size to improve the manufacturing process of Merrimack?s clinical and pre-clinical programs. This role will also assist with internal and external technology transfer activities.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field. A candidate with a M.S. will also be considered. Experience in mammalian cell culture process development is a must. Especially desired are enthusiastic, flexible, and results oriented people who like the challenge of working with a variety of teams in a multi-tasking environment. Equally important are strong interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit and solid experience with common computer programs.
