The Position: User Experience Designer
The Role:
You're passionate about creating great web experiences. This, of course, begins with understanding the user. What you bring to the table is a love for discovering the behavior and motivations of users and an ability to translate that knowledge into innovative, intuitive, and beautiful experiences. Equipped with a wide skill set that includes critical thinking, user research, storyboarding, rapid prototyping, and design, you play a pivotal role within the Information Architecture group at Mimeo. You thrive in collaborative settings working closely with interaction designers, developers, and product management throughout the entire product cycle. You love the web!
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the usability of Mimeo applications as well as competitive sites and offer constructive suggestions on how to improve our user experience
- Conduct regular usability testing with customers, internal teams, and anonymous users
- Design, share, and curate user models & workflows, storyboards, interaction models, and wireframes
- Articulate design and workflow decisions to project teams and stakeholders
- Evaluate site analytics to:
- Design funnels to help identify and simplify user workflows and drive conversions/revenue
- Segment users based on navigation patterns or behavior
- Establish quantifiable relationships between design decisions and site metrics
- Lead prototyping sessions to assist Development and Product teams in visualizing new UI elements and functionality
- Implement interface designs into production-ready HTML and CSS
​Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 4+ years relevant work experience including the research and design of usable web interfaces
- Expert-level HTML and CSS skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, and other UX-related design tools
- Ability to utilize JavaScript/jQuery for rapid prototyping
- Solid understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and UX principles and best practices
- Advanced writing and communication skills
- Web analytics (Omniture Site Catalyst)
- High level of self-motivation, innovation and imagination, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
