Using hundreds of autonomous mobile robots and sophisticated control software, the Kiva Mobile-robotic Fulfillment System enables extremely fast cycle times with reduced labor requirements, from receiving to picking to shipping.
We are currently offering an opportunity for a User Experience Designer (mid to senior-level) to join our team and lead the design activities on a number of initiatives throughout the organization. In this role, you'll be responsible for providing a full suite of UX support to our project teams including user research, design, prototyping, and usability testing.
You will work closely with our Software Architects and collaborate regularly with development, internal stakeholders and end users. You should have experience rapidly turning concepts into designs, supporting a constructive and collaborative design process, while getting people excited about the outcomes. You must enjoy researching and solving challenging design problems, be passionate about great product designs, have successfully built easy-to-use solutions for non-technical end users, and love to drive new ideas, inspire creative and innovative thinking, and influence decision makers.
Role & Responsibilities
Work within development organization to design UX for customer-facing rich internet apps for Kiva's Material Handling System
Build collaborative relationships with product managers, architects and project teams and translate specific requirements and their implementation into outstanding user experiences
Create and maintain design specifications for new designs
Evaluate user feedback and incorporate enhancements into existing designs
Create user interface mockups and produce personas, scenarios, navigation, user flows, wireframes, screen designs, and interaction models
Have the ability to integrate existing design as well as designs from external consultants
Provide design details that QA can write test plans from Desired Skills & Experience
5-7 years of experience as an interaction designer, experience designer or a similar role
BS/BA in a related field, such as HCI, Human Factors, Interactive Design, Industrial Design or Graphic Design
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools and an ability to provide artwork for use within product
Track record of hands-on design leadership and successful product releases
History of creating compelling UX and streamlining complex workflows
Ability to demonstrate an understating of user-centered design/usability
Ability to communicate design with wireframes and storyboards
Proven experience with a user-centric approach to research and design
Ability to understand customer needs, motivations, and behaviors and translate them into deliverable tasks
Solid understanding of user interaction techniques such as focus groups, participatory design, and usability testing
Proven experience in designing web and desktop interfaces based on strong knowledge of user interface design guidelines
Ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to development teams and/or executives
Ability to move fast and solicit feedback, without fear of criticism or failure and be passionate about great design
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Detail orientation
Additional Skills and Experience that are a strong plus:
Experience with and ability to thrive within an Agile/Scrum team
Ability to simultaneously work on several complex projects that may vary greatly in scope
Familiarity with robotics and/or Material Handling and Warehouse Automation is beneficial but not required
