Position Summary:
LANDesk?s User Experience team is looking for a User Experience Designer to make our applications more meaningful, engaging, and rewarding to use. This is an opportunity to reinvent how people interact with computers, to turn new technology into positive user experiences, and to deliver a product that reaches multitudes of IT professionals and various types of end users. As a User Experience Designer, you will work alongside talented interaction designers, usability researchers, product managers and software developers to build the next generation of the LANDesk product line. You will help set the graphic and visual vision for the future user experience, serving as a user advocate to ensure the highest level of usability, desirability and customer satisfaction. You will design product experiences that meet demanding quality standards, and you will drive your work through the software development process. You will collaborate with teams across the company to ensure we maintain industry leadership, delivering innovative, exciting and emotionally engaging products.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Translate stakeholder objectives and business requirements into architectural and conceptual solutions
Create wireframes & diagrams to represent user interaction models and methods within product architectures
Create icons that explain the metaphor of the task/goal within a UI
Work closely with user experience engineers to design graphical user interface deliverables for both prototypes and end product
Work with all members of the user experience team to refine product designs via an iterative design process
Ensure a consistent look and feel across all product families and suites
Contribute UI component code to a shared controls library and resource dictionary
Present visual design concepts to cross functional teams and contribute to design and development sessions
Collaborate with team members, developers, and third parties to ensure the integrity of the design language is maintained throughout the project development cycle
Support quality assurance testing processes
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, Javascript (jQuery), user testing, and applying UX principles in creating usable and useful interactions
Experience implementing UI changes based on an iterative design process with a heavy reliance on multiple rounds of usability testing
Working knowledge of Adobe suite of applications
Ability to create unique, effective designs that meet the needs of the project.
Basic knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition
Able to design user interfaces that account for localization and internationalization concerns
Able to successfully balance and manage workloads for multiple projects simultaneously
Able to function well as part of a team including a high comfort level in a collaborative environment
Able to work closely with development engineers and have a high comfort level participating in technical discussions
Willing to learn new technologies and move quickly in an agile environment
Must work well with a broad cross section of corporate organization including but not limited to engineering, product management, sales, marketing, documentation/localization, and senior corporate leadership
Excellent project management skills and be able to work with minimal supervision to develop and execute project plans under time pressures
Receptive to feedback and constructive criticism
Adapt quickly to changing situations and willing to test alternative courses of action
Strong organizational skills with ability to handle various tasks; attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Mobile device (iOS, Android) UI design experience
Education/Licensing/Certification:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent in graphic design, software interface design, web development, a related field, or related work experience
