As Coursera?s first User Experience Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in discovering the motivations and desires of our students and instructors. The insights derived from your research will bring the voice of current and potential users into the organization, supporting strategic efforts in design, product, engineering and marketing.
The right person will be a hands-on researcher, doing both qualitative and survey work, and a self-starter, proposing the right research opportunities to each team.
Create empathy throughout the organization for the needs of students and instructors
Conduct broad qualitative research with both students and instructors
Collaborate with design and product to conduct usability research, supporting the creation of simple and delightful experiences for students and instructors
Deliver insights to marketing to make our communication more resonant with current and potential students
Design and execute surveys of existing and potential users
Broad experience with qualitative research methodologies to support varying research needs, such as in-depth interviews, usability studies, focus groups, in-home interviews, ethnographies, etc.
Understanding of proper survey design is a must
Understanding of statistics and relevant statistical software packages is helpful
International experience is helpful, but not required
5+ years experience doing qualitative and quantitative user research
