The User Researcher is responsible for overseeing research across all BitTorrent products. Core duties include managing the user research team, conducting user research, and effectively communicating findings and recommendations to various teams and senior executives. The User Researcher will need to partner with product teams, marketing teams, data science, and engineering to ensure that user research drives decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and implement holistic research strategies for BitTorrent products.
Plan, conduct and document on-site customer studies, remote usability studies, and other research efforts.
Ensure research produces actionable recommendations for product teams, and that research findings are being addressed in the product development backlog.
Organize and manage the user research team to achieve agreed upon research goals and broader User Experience goals.
Ensure that strong communication is maintained between the User Research and Data Science teams.
Accurate, transparent, and timely reporting as to the status and progress of user research projects, budgets, and findings as needed.
Ensure the latest online and offline research techniques are incorporated in primary and secondary research.
Ideal candidates will posses a strong combination of the following experience:
3-5 years of experience designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting user research.
An MS in Cognitive Science, HCI, related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in successful research programs for consumer-facing applications or websites, ideally in a start-up environment.
Experience using various user research tools such as Morae, remote testing, survey tools, etc.
Excellent working knowledge of statistics and experiment design.
Basic knowledge of prototyping tools.
Basic knowledge of product development processes.
Strong presentation and writing skills.
