Description
eChalk has a fantastic opportunity immediately available for a well-organized, assertive and affective leader with 1-3 years of UI Lead experience to develop trailblazing social and mobile K-12 learning products used by thousands of schools. The focus of this role is to organize, improve and sustain the technical front-end development architecture, standards, processes and capabilities in an agile, extreme programming environment. The ideal candidate is someone with a proven track record and/or a demonstrable combination of technical skills, project management and leadership qualities directly associated with front-end software development. Candidate must be local to NYC and will work out of our Manhattan headquarters office.
Responsibilities
Report to CTO and Chief Architect; Integrate with cross-functional XP product team to lead all UI development activities and resources with clear and complete ownership over this competency, related artifacts and targeted deliveries
Improve, augment and enforce UI development standards and align with interaction and branding designs
Performs design and code reviews and training
Recruit, continuously assess and mentor UI developers
Collaborate or manage any outside consultants we might be working with
Requirements
BA/BS degree (computer science or related field is preferred)
Demonstrable expert level on HTML5, DHTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax, Json, JQuery / Flex and Adobe Creative Suite
Demonstrable excellent level on JQueryMobile, Sencha or Phonegap
Experience with .Net, LAMP, SQL, MongolDB, RavenDB, Casandra or cloud computing are pluses
Excellent attention to details; Firm grasp of larger context; Adaptability to changes
Expert level on problem identification and creative resolutions. Demonstrable ability to look back, ahead or around the corner for potential problems or opportunities to harness relevant exiting or nascent technologies
Can thrive in a goals-oriented, progressive and fast-pace XP environment
Excellent verbal and written communication, team building and ability to vet and evangelize nascent technologies and initiatives.
