The Role:

The Usability Researcher?s goal is to become intimately familiar with the thoughts and behaviors of our customers and institute programs that will gather critical information to inform product direction and design decisions. This person will engage in both subjective and objective research including usability testing, multi-variate testing, and web analytics evaluation, while collaborating with the User Experience team, Marketing, and Business Intelligence. In addition, this person will be responsible for collecting the combined customer knowledge held throughout the organization, distilling it, and disseminating it in a usable form. The role will report into User Experience.
What You?ll Do:?
Conducting user research to understand the needs and desires of our players
Researching, documenting and delivering detailed reviews of competitive products including comparisons to past, current and future competitive offerings
Documenting and presenting recommendations based on research and analysis
Distill common attributes of users into personas and ensure their productive use as a design tool.
Collaborating with Marketing, Business Intelligence, and SEO to weave a story about our players that is actionable to the teams
Collaborate with User Experience, Product, and Marketing, to direct the evolution of our product based on research findings
Manage AB/MVT testing across properties
Manage Google and other UX Analytics reporting across web properties
Identify strategic research goals and put together plans to address them with the right techniques
Keep up to date on the latest techniques in user research
Mentor other team members in areas of demonstrated expertise?
Skills & Experience You?ll Need To Be Successful:
Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
Ability to distill and communicate findings into themes, trends and models
Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices
Strong background in Information Architecture, Design and/or Content Strategy and experimental methodology
At least three to four years of working with standard clickstream analysis tools: Google Analytics, Omniture, ClickTracks, WebTrends, HBX, CoreMetrics, ClickTale etc
Two years of experience in advanced web analytics methodologies such as experimentation and testing, competitive analysis, surveys and market research.
Three to five years of experience in using the Microsoft Office suite with very strong Excel skills.
Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Psychology, Instructional Design, Anthropology or related field (preferred) or 3+ years experience in related field
Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt to new processes and environments quickly, agile experience is a plus
Ability to work well either individually or in a team
Demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data
Excellent communication skills
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
5+ years experience leading usability research
