UX Engineer Intern [Summer 2013] Deepfield Networks

UX engineer interns will work with DeepField product design and engineering leads to understand the challenges our users are facing and solve them by designing and implementing intuitive, powerful, and beautiful interfaces. Interns will have the opportunity to work on UX not just in the products, but also for our public-facing site and marketing materials (which is way more fun than it sounds!).
Interns will generate valuable portfolio pieces by conducting user research, qualitative and quantitative studies, and iterating on mockups, prototypes, and finished interfaces. These designs and interfaces will be used in products that are used every day by many of the largest network operators in the world to gain actionable intelligence and optimize their business.
Basic experience required
One year of graduate studies in human-computer interaction, computer science, or equivalent
Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in ideation, prototyping, and design
Experience with web technologies like HTML/CSS, JavaScript, as well as prototyping tools
Comfortable working with Linux, Git, virtual machines, etc.
Desire to work in the exciting and dynamic environment of a startup entering its growth phase
What you'll be doing
Investigating how to most effectively enable our users to solve the problems they face
Developing mockups, prototypes, and finished interfaces using web technologies
Designing new visualizations and workflows for dealing with large volumes of data
Gaining valuable holistic experience at a startup working on hard problems for big clients
