UX Intern foursquare
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED DESCRIPTION
Every day, millions of people around the world open their phones in search of the best coffee shop nearby, a new option for dinner later, or what their friends are up to now. To do this, they?re using Foursquare.
We are fundamentally changing the way people experience the world around them and we want someone who is excited to play a huge role in designing and defining these new experiences. Foursquare is seeking a passionate, curious, creative, and thoughtful User Experience Design Intern to join our Product team for Summer 2014.
This job is for you if you love Foursquare and you use it everyday. Not only do you just use it, but you have 100 ideas of how to fix things that aren?t working, and which 5 to focus on today. You advocate for the user, not just in your designs, but in every conversation you have throughout the day. You?re fluent and knowledgeable of UX best practices and patterns, but you?re comfortable throwing them out the window.
By the end of the internship, you?ll understand the engineering and technical costs of your designs, and can speak to why they?re worthwhile. You?ll be able to produce not one, but five different solutions to the problem you?re tackling and demonstrate the pros and cons of each. You?ll have worked side by side with your fellow UX Designers, UI Designers, and Researchers, as well as product team members and engineers. And most of all, the things you design will be used by millions of some of the most passionate users throughout the world. Are you up for the challenge?
Own a project from beginning to end. This includes: writing specs, white-boarding, prototyping, wire framing, visual design, presentations to key stakeholders, and working with engineers to implement your designs.
Jump in and pinch-hit on countless other projects our design team is tackling on a daily basis.
Offer thoughtful and feedback to your fellow designers in our weekly design critiques.
Pursuing a MA/MS in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction, Creative Technology, or a related field
A portfolio that includes self-started personal projects for which you had total creative control, as well as team projects (school or professional)
Background or coursework in some of the following: user research, prototyping, information visualization or related fields.
A genuine understanding of the location-based services space and a passion for Foursquare
Functional understanding of mobile technology
Hiring is competitive, please submit your application with a cover letter.
