Idea/Astadia is looking for a User Experience Strategist to join our growing digital strategy and user experience team. In this mid-level role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with senior strategists on the digital strategy and design of usable and memorable experiences for a variety of exciting B2B and B2C clients. Who you should be:
Someone who has growing skills and experience in the arena of digital strategy and user experience. It?s great if you are deep in one area and shallow in others, as long as you are excited about growing and applying all of your skills. Ultimately, you should love blending user goals, business goals, constraints, and opportunities to create great user experiences.
What you will need to do in collaboration with senior staff:
Gather requirements from customers and the business and then document them in a way that makes sense. Conduct stakeholder interviews and customer research. Create and maintain personas and other tools for keeping the user front and center.
Think strategically about how you will meet customer and business goals, define that strategy, and execute on it. Don?t just take orders, be a partner in creating a great experience!
Design the information architecture behind digital experiences. Create site maps, task flows, and related deliverables.
Own and execute the early stages of design for digital experiences. Create sketches, wireframes or other mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Be a critic. Perform heuristic analyses, competitive analyses, audits, and other examinations of existing websites and applications. Make these insights actionable.
Present on all of the above to clients, partners, and colleagues.
It will also be great if you can do one or more of these things:
Content strategy work: Collaborate with customers and teammates to create plans for getting the right content to the right people at the right times.
User research work: Collaborate with teammates on activities like field research, surveys, focus groups, and usability testing in support of your own projects and those of others.
Social media work: Devise and execute on social media strategy. Make social media insights actionable for clients.
Web and marketing analytics work: Configure web metrics tools. Collect and analyze business data from a wide variety of online and offline sources to uncover insights and identify growth opportunities.
SEO/SEM work: Develop and execute strategies for optimizing websites for search.
Who you will need to work with:
A wide variety of contacts outside the agency, including clients and 3rd party agency staff. This will be a client-facing role; even you aren?t leading those discussions.
Senior strategy staff leading your projects. The team is looking forward to having someone to mentor and grow into a lead player.
All of your other colleagues across disciplines, including user experience practitioners, marketing analysts, designers, developers, project managers, and account managers.
Just about anyone, really. You never know; that person you just met might be your next client
Notable skills that you will need to have:
Fanatical attention to detail. This is listed first on purpose.
Strong data gathering, interpretation, organization, and communication skills. You should have the ability to summarize complex ideas clearly and concisely and then present them well.
Experience in the tools of the trade, like Axure, Omnigraffle, Visio, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. It?s a plus if you can cross into comps or code.
Demonstrated experience conceiving and designing user-centered digital experiences for the web and mobile devices. Have a portfolio to show us.
A passion for this stuff! You should be the kind of person who sends out cool examples to the team and generally keeps up with what?s up.
A solid understanding of the marketing and sales funnel, along with the typical stages of the buyer journey.
The ability to work remotely with a global team. Spending a decent chunk of some days on conference calls isn?t a problem for you. Neither is getting up early to work with our folks in Europe, when needed.
Solid business acumen.
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity or expertise with marketing automation tools like Eloqua, Marketo, and Test and Target, is a plus.
Familiarity or expertise with Google Analytics and Omniture is a plus.
The ability to think creatively, especially about where to go to lunch when nobody else has a good suggestion.
