The candidate is responsible for leading all UX/UI design for our products and tools. As such, the candidate must have strong experience in human factors, workflow and design. The candidate must be able to understand what the customer wants and then create elegant designs that deliver the functionality flawlessly. Documentation or training should be secondary to intuitive use of the solutions. The candidate must be a highly collaborative person who works well with team members to extract and understand needs/functionality.
The candidate will be responsible for the user experience in of our internal tools. In such, the candidate must understand all current workflows, processes, and interfaces such that he/she can abstract out the key goal or need that can then be designed into a modern, easy to use, user experience and user interface. A key objective is that any current user (internal or external) of the system should be able to quickly adopt the new UX/UI with minimal to no training (ie it is so intuitive that there is the user only sees value and ease of use in the new tool and readily adopts it).
The candidate will also work on new innovation projects that will create new design layout and UX/UI. In this part of the role, the designer must be pro-active and assertive in being able to imagine new interfaces that he/she can ?sell? to the team. Getting team buy-in, should be done via mock-ups, storyboard, and then designed elements. He/she should be open and accepting to all levels of input/suggestions and should not be offended or take a territorial view; however, he/she must also be confident in their approach such that they can defend their choices but accept compromises where needed.
The candidate must have an innate desire to learn new technologies, tools and languages. He/she should be naturally interested in design and is always thinking about new ways to solve problems (more efficient for the user). The candidate will work on a team (may be geographically disbursed) that will cross train and mentor each other to grow the team skills to support a wide range of Products on diverse platforms (from audio/video servers to mobile devices to tablets to kiosks, etc). The candidate must be proactive, highly motivated and takes pride in their work.
The candidate must have experience in an agile (iterative) development environment and understand the methodology of building products iteratively (2-4 week sprints). The candidate must be able to develop prototypes quickly (not demo code) to showcase concepts, prove technology approach, and to enable early customer feedback. The candidate will work on existing code to understand its capabilities, as you simultaneously build new solutions that vastly expand our current offerings to meet our global vision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

?Responsible for requirements analysis, designing, developing, testing and delivering high quality, scalable products
?Mastering the development methodology (agile, iterative) and development tools
?Documents user stories and use cases
?Team player who will work on scrum teams to deliver Product level quality deliverables on time and within budget
?Early deliverables will include wireframes, flowcharts, storyboards, mock-ups and presentations
?Must be able to articulate design choices, but must be flexible to understand business needs
Experience/Education/Certifications
?BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; post graduate education desired
?Prior experience working in a leadership role and a minimum of 7 years experience in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of UX/UI applications (please have your portfolio available)
?Has a strong sense of the external environment, the competitive landscape and leading-edge technology to ensure the implementation of the appropriate technical architectures and solutions
Preferred Development/Programming Knowledge and Skills
?Technologist at heart who keeps up to date with new technology trends, tools, applications, etc
?Experience/expertise in many of these: HTML, HTML5, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
?Development experience in a hybrid cloud environment
?Familiar with software development life cycles, source control and build/release procedures
?Programming experience in high-volume/low-latency/high performance processing
?Programming experience with multi-threading processing & TCP/IP
?Familiar with open source technologies
Bonus Skills
?Experience with technologies message queuing (e.g., RabbitMQ), noSQL/membase key-value database (e.g., CouchBase)
?Familiar with audio and video formats, compression and streaming methods
