Vascular Interventional Coder CodeRyte
The Medical Coders report to the Coding Manager and work remotely from the Bethesda corporate office. They review physician documentation and code diagnoses and procedures using current ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions to assure the specificity of diagnoses, procedures and modifiers assignments as appropriate for optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges.
Overview:
? Review physician documentation and accurately assign codes using ICD-9-CM and/or CPT coding conventions.
? Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes through participation in continuing education programs to effectively apply ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines to inpatient and outpatient diagnoses and procedures.
? Maintain minimum productivity and proficiency level as outlined by the coding manager.
? Maintain a thorough knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic vascular procedures; Head, Neck, Chest, Abdominal/Visceral and Upper and Lower Extremities. In addition to, non-vascular related diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include: Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Percutaneous Biopsies, Aspirations, Drainage and Ablation procedures.
? Maintain required coding credentials.
? At all times protect the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations.
? Actively demonstrate teamwork at all times.
? Perform other job related duties as necessary.
Needs:
? High school graduate with a minimum of 5 years of coding experience required
? Current AAPC and/or AHIMA certification required.
? Thorough understanding of ICD-9, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding systems.
? Must be self motivated, flexible and organized.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Wired high speed internet such as DSL, FIOS or Cable.
Ideal:
? CIRCC Certification.
? Strong modifier assignment background.
