We are currently seeking a Vice President Business Development
Come join DDN as part of the Leadership Team as a Business Development Vice President. We are looking for a creative problem solver to partner with Independent Software Vendors and Systems Integrators focused on accelerating applications and end-use business outcomes thanks to the unique performance and differentiators of DDN Storage solutions.
Reporting to the COO, the VP Business Development will be responsible for creating business recommendations and lead their execution in partnership with other functions, so that these initiatives lead to substantive impact on DDN?s Revenue and (Market) growth initiatives.
DDN go-to-market strategy focuses on specific industries and markets we currently serve, such as Service Providers (are they Cloud players or not), Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, Financial Services, HPC, Media (Broadcasters and Post-Production in particular), Government (e.g. Intelligence, National Security) and Digital Security (e.g. CCTV). Our business development efforts will focus on identifying a funnel of specific applications, which can be accelerated when leveraging DDN storage. Working with our Marketing and Sales teams, the Business Development VP will qualify and prioritize selected opportunities to package solutions with these application partners. Specific and existing DDN teams and practices can be leveraged in this process, such as our Services & Support ?Solutions Labs? (located in Maryland/USA, Dusseldorf/Germany and Tokyo/Japan), our portfolio of solution architecture blueprints and DDN storage fine tuning best practices, as well as the opportunity to leverage R&D. Ultimately the goal of the VP Business Development will be to sign the associated partnership agreements with selected ISVs and SIs, and then hand-over the basis of a full lead generation and sales execution program to Marketing & Sales. Success is defined by the DDN Product, Services and Support revenues generated by the DDN Sales force, as a result of these partnerships.
Note that such methodology has already been successfully prototyped by DDN with specific ISVs, hence the decision to take a programmatic approach and form a Business Development team.
The new Vice President of Business Development will also focus on a range of topics, including due diligence on potential acquisitions or partners, customer discovery, customer data analysis, economic and financial analysis, and market and competitor analysis.
It is essential that the individual selected for this position be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization and be viewed as a team player. The individual will have exceptional leadership skills and potential.
This position requires a high degree of integrity that is demonstrated by delivering on what has been committed to and eliciting the same accountability from team members.
This position can be located in anywhere in the U.S. and requires significant travel.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
?Lead a small team that actively contributes to DDN?s 3&1-year plan
?Identify and research viability of new business opportunities, organic and inorganic, in support of the plan
?Manage and influence cross functional teams in the execution of those plans
?Leverage current business momentum in the company?s solution labs and recently published solution blueprints
?Demonstrate a strong understanding of the ISV?s and Go to Market Partners, with an appreciation for using internal partners across DDN to deliver on plans for new market entry and long term growth
?Structure work plans and project scope to deliver business impact on high priority issues
?Help bring innovative solutions to market with speed and rigor
?Provide thought leadership and ad-hoc strategic advice as a member of the senior leadership team, and in partnership with other DDN business units functions
?Possess a high level of energy as well as strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Qualifications for this role are:
?Must be an experienced executive from the technology industry, although Big
?Data experience is not essential the successful candidate will demonstrate acumen in related technology systems and solutions
?Experience in a start-up or small company environment will be useful
?Knowledge of how to drive business development plans and strategies
?Strong problem-solving skills, and analytical orientation with the ability to analyze alternative solutions
?Demonstrated experience as a true self-starter that can quickly and independently assess business requirements and become a trusted and integral part of the executive team
?Ability to partner and collaborate across organizational boundaries with experience working effectively in a matrix environment
?Ability to envision new and innovative ideas and approaches and ways to take them to fruition
?Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with potential strategic partners, acquisition targets, end customers and internal senior management as needed
?Demonstrable leadership presence. Comfortable in the executive suite and at the highest levels of an organization
?Drives for results. Will be motivated by meeting and beating goals and will have a clear focus on execution
?Very comfortable with ambiguity and change. As an emerging operation, some of the parameters and guardrails will become clear over time. Candidates must be able to adapt and respond to changing circumstance
