Position Summary:
DriveCam is seeking a Vice President, Government Affairs to proactively manage governmental, regulatory and legislative matters for DriveCam and oversee all lobbying efforts. This individual will be expected to be proficient in identifying and communicating internally about new or expanded regulatory initiatives that may impact the delivery of DriveCam products to existing and prospective clients, or which may create opportunities for the development of new DriveCam products. To be effective, the VP will need to foster productive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, demonstrate a high degree of political acumen and solid judgment, communicate simply and clearly on sometimes complicated topics, and accurately assess business implications of policy issues.
Responsibilities:
Have and maintain deep connections with Washington D.C. legal and lobbying firms and knowledge of lobbying strategies, ethics restrictions and
requirements
Monitor federal and state legislation across the country, identifying legislation relevant to DriveCam; devise and execute a strategy for
a successful outcome
Provide analysis, intelligence and support to business units within DriveCam by proactively disseminating information on current and future
policies and initiatives
Create favorable regulatory and legislative constructs for DriveCam products
Elevate DriveCam?s visibility among Congressional offices, state legislators, executive offices, and other relevant stakeholders
As necessary, participate in legislative and regulatory hearings, meetings, and workshops
Duties will also include developing a Litigation Support center for our clients (responding to third party subpoenas, monitoring trends in the courts and legislative arenas and developing user group to share best practices on defending cases involving a DriveCam event)
Requirements:
Education/Experience: Juris doctorate.
Licensed attorney plus 10+ years of relevant experience in government, regulatory or legislative affairs.
An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a business, political science or related field is a plus.
Must have legal right to work in the US
Competencies:
Keen understanding of the legislative and regulatory process, preferably on federal level and in CA
Prior litigation experience
Expertise in government contracting a plus, as duties could include FCPA training and overseeing administration of GSA Contract
Ability to interact with all levels of internal personnel and external business partners to facilitate win-win situations and gain the trust of all parties.
Utmost professionalism in interactions with members of the Board of Directors, executive leadership and outside counsel in a wide array of fields.
Effectiveness in this role requires a full understanding of DriveCam?s corporate operations and product lines.
Requires excellent judgment
Perform duties independently with instruction given on new projects or assignments.
Ability to manage problems of highly diverse scope and moderate to high complexity.
Multiple tasks must often be performed contemporaneously, requiring understanding of issues surrounding personnel, finance, contracts, corporate structure, and technology.
A willingness and competence to pay attention to detail and minutiae is essential.
The ability to recognize when to seek the advice of the VP, Legal Affairs, other company personnel, or external advisors is important.
