Job Description:
Principal Focus: This position will develop investment strategies for Health client investment portfolios using commercial actuarial software and proprietary Asset / Liability Management tools and present these strategies to clients. This role is responsible for managing projects, supervising analysts, and working with Portfolio Management and Sales and Marketing.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Develop investment strategies for Health clients. Coordinate client needs with Portfolio Manager. Work with Advisory team to prepare ALM and other financial models. Develop recommended investment strategy based on tests of alternative portfolio structures using ALM. Prepare formal reports to support the recommendations. Present to client senior management or Board. Work with Portfolio Manager to develop investment policy guidelines and performance benchmarks.
Support Client Business Development on sales prospects. Analyze prospects for information that can be used by the Sales Team. Prepare the Advisory portion of RFPs and pitch books. Participate in sales presentations by demonstrating knowledge of health insurance products.
Manage projects. Manage several projects in different stages of development and coordinate resources with other senior member of Research & Consulting. Support other areas within Research & Consulting, including Research and Publications and Consulting.
Supervise ALM Analysts. Delegate appropriate projects to Analysts. Review Analysts work for accuracy and completeness. Provide training and feedback.
Support development of Life and Health ERM consulting practice. Address changes in insurance regulations, tax laws, accounting and capital standards, and capital markets. Incorporate new approaches to financial modeling stress testing and portfolio management optimizations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 7 years of relevant insurance or asset management experience, or
A minimum of 7 years of consulting experience, or work in a project-oriented client service role.
Thorough knowledge of health insurance and institutional investment management.
Life and health actuarial designation (FSA or experienced ASA) preferred.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or progress towards a designation a plus.
Experience with Asset / Liability Management.
Other Skills: Excellent communication & presentation skills. Strong analytical abilities. Successfully manage multiple projects and project teams. Travel primarily in the U.S.
