Vice President, Media Knowledge Networks
KN GfK's Media practice is looking for an LA-based Vice President to undertake business development, build client relationships, and manage custom media research projects for media clients based in Los Angeles or on the West Coast.
Candidates should have extensive contacts in the Los Angeles media research community, be experienced in client development and proposal writing, and be willing to operate with specific performance goals in terms of sales and P&L targets.
This position will be supported by the KN Media team in terms of research development, and by the KN project management staff in executing projects. Although this position is primarily one of business development, the candidate must have the necessary research knowledge to discuss and manage custom research projects at an executive level (the basics of questionnaire development, sampling, reporting, etc). The candidate should also be comfortable working "long distance" with a team that is primarily located in, and managed from, the NY/NJ area. The candidate will be able to operate out of a KN GfK office in Burbank, or possibly GfK offices in Irvine or Gardena.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be an ambassador for KN GfK by successfully managing our most important client relationships - in meetings, teleconferences, workshops, presentations with research and non-research client functions, industry conferences, etc.
Build loyalty, revenues and profitability by virtue of extraordinary delivery to our clients.
Oversight of KN GfK engagement staff to ensure the highest quality deliverables for our clients.
Sell the company's services to current and prospective clients ? take the lead on proposal development, from formulating methodology to writing, presenting and closing proposals.
Supervise and mentor team members.
Initiate/Engage in research and development activities, as needed, to develop and refine a new frameworks/services
Involvement in strategic and tactical planning
Experience and Skills:
10+ years market research experience with strong quantitative skew
Understanding the application and interpretation of advanced statistics/research methods is essential (however, not looking for a statistician)
Industry-specific skills: Experience with custom media research and/or audience research is necessary
Proven ability to grow client revenues through superior performance ? expected to manage $2 million + in new and existing client business
Ability to contribute to the delivery of marketing driven insights in written and oral formats
Issue-specific skills: Candidate must be knowledgeable in issues such audience measurement, the influence of digital technology on media use, the media buying process and common parameters and definitions related to those topics.
Availability to travel domestically as needed. "Out-of-town" travel not expected to exceed 20%.
Education:
Advanced degree in business or social sciences a plus
