Advanced Biomarker Technologies, a venture capital backed enterprise, has developed a product for the medical and biotechnology industries. The Biomarker Generator integrates a 7.5 MeV particle accelerator, kit based microchemistry and quality control to allow a user push button access to critical PET biomarkers for patients and/or research subjects. The new Biomarker Generator is designed to produce "on-demand" PET Biomarkers.
The company was started in 2006 and is located in Knoxville, TN, very close to where clinical PET was developed over the past 25 years at CTI Molecular Imaging. CTI has become part of Siemens Molecular Imaging.
Given that the Company desires to continue the development of this PET based technology, we seek to attract a world class VP Research and Development (VPR&D) to lead all product development efforts.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the VP R&D will lead the development of new technologies in the PET Biomarker Generation Field including particle accelerators, chemistry and quality control modules, including growing and leading a research and development team. This executive will champion the expansion and the flexibility of the existing product platform including producing additional F-18 biomarkers and C-11 radioisotopes, successfully commercialize the product to optimize its robustness and reliability, develop the next generation product to markedly improve efficiency and costs and to continue to maintain cutting edge technology, and to develop a world class research and development team.
Develop, implement and lead the Company's research strategies and plans aligned with the overall mission and goals of the organization.
Lead the development of a high performing research and development team.
Develop the research and development processes to govern the gating steps of development.
Define technical requirements to meet regulatory and user needs.
Lead multiple development projects from idea to commercial production readiness.
Develop collaborations and customer relationships to understand the market, incorporate ideas from academia and prepare the Company's products for commercial success.
Successfully develop project budgets and manage projects within budget constraints.
Further, the VPR&D will?
Work closely with sales and marketing, physicians and other industry experts to identify product opportunities and establish product requirements.
Direct the development and improvement of products in compliance with the Quality Policy, Plan and Procedures.
Hire, ensure training, manage and mentor Research and Development staff.
Assure that business affairs are conducted according to established company policy.
Oversee the selection of critical vendors and provides direction and management of these critical vendor relationships.
Develop and manage the Technical Advisory Board.
Provide R&D leadership and support for the implementation and execution of domestic and international clinical programs.
Develop project plans, schedules and budgets for R&D programs. Manage programs within the limitation of available resources.
Coordinate research/engineering personnel to support ongoing manufacturing and provide field support as necessary.
Manage the company IP portfolio including being the liaison with legal support.
Monitor and understand the research and regulatory landscape to continue to progress the Company's products to be on the leading edge and continually advancing the state of the art PET Biomarker Generation technology.
We seek a proven leader from the R&D space who possesses a passion for innovation within the PET and biomarker generation sector.
This VP will:
Possess experience in one of the key components of the ABT technology, accelerators, radiochemistry and analytical equipment and perhaps PET imaging.
Be capable of defining and realizing a vision for the Company's technology and solutions for its market.
Have experience with developing new technologies into commercial successes.
Exhibit tremendous work ethic to realize the vision they have set about for their team and the Company's vision. This leader must be capable of working within a resource lean, venture capital environment where "doing as well as delegating" are equally important.

Possess a degree in Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, with an advanced degree viewed as very desirable.
Possess a minimum 5 years experience in leading a highly technical development group.
Be able to relocate to the Knoxville, TN area as this is where the VP role will be located.
