SourceMedical is currently seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering for its Surgery Division in Branford, CT.

We are using innovative solutions which will contribute towards the next generation SaaS products that are helping our clients transform their use of healthcare technology. Reporting directly to the CIO, the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the lifecycle including planning/estimating, architecture and solution design, mentoring engineers, and exploring frameworks, toolsets or processes to improve the team?s productivity, as well as be accountable for quality software delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage expectations, set realistic goals and achieve them.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence and a fun work environment while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.
Take a hands-on approach to managing the software development lifecycle, including:
Business Analysis, including requirements management, clear and comprehensive requirements definition, use case development. This includes working closely with our Clients.
Project Management of your resources, including estimating, resource/project planning, scope and change management, risk management and vendor management of offshore technology partners. This includes day to day management to ensure successful, on-time releases.
Development, including the technical direction, architectural designs, and unit/component testing that limits the number of defects in a release.
Process Management, including consistent processes, mentoring the use of Agile techniques and delivering high-quality, collaborative software.
Development Operations, including maintenance/support and break/fix requests.
Work closely with the Product Planning, Client Services, Business Development and Infrastructure teams to develop world-class, commercial software products and partner with the leadership team to ensure overall business success.
Implements root cause analysis and implements improvements.
Implements best practices in accordance with CMMI and other industry frameworks
BS/MS in computer science or related degree
Proven ability to build productive relationships and motive team members. Must have a positive can do attitude.
Strong experience and understanding of contemporary technologies, including:
Service-oriented architecture (SOA), n-tiered solutions in a primarily Microsoft environment (SQL, .Net, TFS, Sharepoint, etc.)
Development and deployment experience with Web Services and in-depth knowledge of OOD principles, UML design techniques, event driven architectures, and other design patterns
Experience with Hibernate, Entity Framework or other object-relational mapping framework
Experience with utilizing an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) or middleware technologies. Strong software development process background, preferably using Agile methodologies
Effective interpersonal skills (presentation, written and oral) and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff levels
Experience in healthcare is preferred but not mandatory.
Some minimal travel will be required.
