The position of Product Innovation Engineer will serve as a critical catalyst for the innovation needed to broaden our current business model as we continue to look to better serve current customers, move into new markets and aggressively grow the company. This technology-driven individual will be responsible for the evolution of our web-based services and develop new and differentiated products and delivery models to generate new and profitable revenue streams.
With a proven background in developing products using contemporary technologies, this individual will have a ground floor opportunity to shape the future direction of our industry offers. The Product Innovation Engineer will work closely with sales, product marketing and development and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, start-up like environment. Responsibilities
Helps to define product vision, strategy and road map
Creates detailed working design documents that can be used to scope work and can be used by developers to implement features
Coordinates the design and development of high-quality, regular product releases including, but not limited to:
Determining requirements and architect product plans
Defining specifications for product features and functionality in conjunction with key stakeholders
Leading development initiatives
Conducting acceptance testing with external and internal constituencies
Designs products that will meet customer specifications or perform on various applications in the aftermarket
Prioritizes user stories by business value
Decides which user stories are scheduled into sprints
Participates in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings
Coordinates beta testing of new products and features
Documents and reports problems and recommends solutions/improvements to program managers
Participates in product performance benchmarking activities
Streamlines (and in some cases, create) the processes that take place between marketing, product, research and development to ensure effective collaboration to accomplish desired objectives
Performs engineering analysis of design systems and components using available analytical tools
Redesigns as required to enhance process, improve product performance or reduce costs
Enthusiastically uses data analysis to inform educated decisions
Communicates with Current Analysis customers; identifies key use cases, common challenges, and proposed solutions; and provide validated feedback to the business
Develops hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products and keeps up regularly with the latest technologies
Desired Skills and Experience
Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
Thorough understanding of the product development lifecycle, product design and road-mapping
Experience developing high-growth Internet-based products using leading-edge technologies
Developing new products from conception, alpha, testing and launch
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
In-depth knowledge of testing practices and techniques.
Microsoft dot.net, Java and X programming languages
Ability to prioritize and communicate decisions effectively
Collaboration with marketing and research and development teams to develop prototypes of application functionality
Desire for rapid pace and tolerance for role ambiguity
Team player with the ability to exercise tact and discretion with internal and external contacts to avoid friction and accomplish defined objectives.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field
7+ years in product management and technical development for an internet technology company in the business information or a closely related space such as data warehousing or analytics
