Tilera Corp. is seeking a senior video applications software development engineer who has both breadth and depth of knowledge. We are a fabless semiconductor company designing and building innovative, highly-parallel, very high-performance and power efficient processors targeted to the high-end embedded and cloud computing markets. A critical part of our strategy is to provide high-performance, high-quality application reference software that our customers can build on and customize to create their products.Position reports to: Global Software Applications Engineering Manager
Location: San Jose, CA

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Designing and developing streaming video applications.
Working closely with a highly skilled software team building cutting edge software applications.
Participating in both early technology research and product development.
Actively contributing your knowledge of modern software development techniques and technology on diverse platforms and architectures.
Enabling customers to be successful through delivering high-performance and well-documented reference code, delivering compelling demos and supporting customers using Tilera?s processors and software products.
A small amount of travel may be necessary to foster relations with customers and world-wide development sites.
Requirements:
Highly Desirable:
Experience with parallel systems, including multi-core processors, SMP and NUMA architectures, or systems comprised of multiple processors and other computational components such as DSPs, FPGAs and ASICs.
Video Firmware Development skills with RTOS, H.264, Video Compression, C/C++, Debug, Streaming Multimedia experience.
Strong track record and interest in related aspects of comprehensive digital media systems, such as audio, real-time media networking protocols (RTP, RTSP), UDP and higher level systems such as video conferencing and broadcast applications.
Experience working directly with customers to solve their problems and a track record of success.
Additional:
A proactive team member that can take a product from early concepts through development and release.
Strong track record in video codec development, with a focus on high performance.
Ideally broad experience with a range of video compression and transport protocols, such as H.264, from baseline to high profile.
A strong understanding of high-performance processor architecture, including CPU and cache concepts, memory, I/O, etc.
Well-rounded engineering skills, including technical investigation, design, software engineering process, schedule development and productive implementation practices.
Good technical communication skills; both written and oral.
An effective team player who can productively work with other team members, including hardware and system architects, software platform developers and marketing product managers to define effective products.
