We're looking for a developer to work on our clustered storage and distribution platform which acts as an archive and origin server for our publishers' videos. This system is central to Brightcove's video delivery, and it operates at truly massive scale, both in the cloud and in Brightcove's private data center. We're talking about petabytes of video available instantly for delivery and playback.
ABOUT THE TEAM:
The team you'll be joining is a small, self-organized Agile group focused on solving hard engineering problems. Brightcove is full of truly talented software professionals who love their craft. We use an agile process that ensures the features we build will delight our customers *and* that we're usually home in time for dinner. We are always shipping code -- even several times a day. The team consists of developers who double as experts in operating the systems that they build and take pride in our extremely high uptime stats and our software quality.
ABOUT YOU:
You have experience building large applications in multiple languages. (We mostly use Java, but do some heavy lifting with Python and have some Ruby and Groovy sprinkled in)
You have experience developing and deploying software at high scale.
You understand the basics of scalable SaaS systems: Linux, security, Amazon EC2, HTTP, and SOA.
You understand the principles of software craftsmanship. You write clean code, even when working on extremely hard problems. You unit test everything.
You enjoy wearing a DevOps hat and don't mind getting your hands dirty with things like OS tweaks, ELB configurations, auto scaling groups, building AMIs, messing with filesystem code, or setting up continuous delivery pipelines.
