Virtualization Systems Administrator, IT Greenway Medical Technologies

This individual will work with existing VM Systems Administrator and Network Operations teams to provide system engineering, operations and maintenance support on the VMware Infrastructure in the Greenway Virtual Infrastructure. This VM Systems Administrator will assist in qualifying and configuring new system resources that are to be adopted and deployed as virtual servers.The VM Systems Administrator will also participate in physical to virtual migrations to include planning, analysis, coordination, execution, and troubleshooting throughout the lifecycle of migration efforts. This role requires a unique balance of customer and technical skills. Customer skills are needed to understand the impact and effect of change on any user or customer work experience. Technical skills are necessary to ascertain various methods to accomplish the task that is in the best interest of the customer and the overall consolidation effort.
Specific tasks and functions may include:
Collaborates with existing Virtualization Administrator to plan, develop, and coordinate the operation and maintenance of current and future ESX hosts and VM clients in accordance with the Greenway Enterprise VMware Server Virtualization Solution.
Troubleshoots application, operating system(s), and server hardware, network communications and storage communications problems with in the virtual frame.
Applying diagnostic tools to trace and resolve technical problems.
Analyzes software and hardware constraints to plan for new user requirements (capacity planning).
Monitors performance of systems for assigned functional area.
Performs diagnostics on system operations to identify' problems and trends, verify network performance and identify potential user requirements.
Tracks and resolves problems which impact continuing system operations.
Conducts meetings to discuss areas of customer concern and to obtain additional clarifying data.
Make recommendations for corrective actions required.
Plans and advises on implementation of revised procedures, processes, methods or approaches.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge and experience in VMware ESXi 5, ESX 4, and VMWare Workstation
Working knowledge of Linux
Experience supporting a large enterprise infrastructure
Working knowledge of network communication systems
Working knowledge of storage communication systems
Desired Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of technical IT experience. Experience with our customers?? existing IT infrastructure and operational environment is desired. Demonstrated experience of successful customer focused IT operations and maintenance. Candidate should have strong customer communication skills; work well as a team member, the desire to take on new IT technology challenges and a willingness to learn.
The following Education/Experience levels are required:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
5 - 8 years of experience
Virtual Certified Professional (VCP 4 or 5) highly preferred
