Here at Uber, we pride ourselves on being a math company. We crave and desire data. But we?re more than just a bunch of quants steeped in numbers. The Uber experience is style, convenience and efficiency all wrapped up together.
We want to take that experience and carry it through everything that we do. So, we?re looking for a designer who has it all - brains, passion and a love for design.
WHAT YOU?LL DO:
You?ll be working closely with our engineers, operations teams and product manager to communicate, design and implement new features and products. One day, you might be making sleek and functional mobile interfaces for our newest apps. Another day, you might be designing simple and elegant tools that enable our operations teams to make complex analytical decisions. And in between, you might be conducting user focus groups to get real-world data on how our design translates to function.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO HAVE:
Extensive experience designing beautiful, engaging user experiences for desktop, web and mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad or Android.
Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines and principals.
Ability to visualize, own and execute the creation of an experience from initial conception to collaborating with engineers on implementation.
Must be capable of rendering gorgeous visuals ? anything ranging from content layout to form elements and textures.
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator in particular).
Ability to deliver solid designs on a tight deadline.
Expert eye for detail and consistency; no detail is too small or insignificant.
Comfortable with an iterative design process that includes accepting and managing feedback and constructive criticism.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Excellent collaborative skills.
Easy-going, fun and shouldn't take yourself too seriously and must be able to articulate/communicate visual design choices.
Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Online portfolio a must!
WHAT WE'D LIKE YOU TO HAVE:
Mastery of the principals of design, color theory, and graphics file creation optimized for the web.
Solid academic background in design or related field.
Demonstrated expertise in designing usable mobile and web-based interfaces.
The right balance of analytical decision-making and design hunches.
Strong, clean visual design sense.
Expert HTML and CSS skills.
Ability to quickly prototype wireframes or high fidelity mocks.
Knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes is a plus.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Creative solutions-driven mind set, with a "Get Shit Done" attitude
