Undertone is looking for an exceptional VP, Midwest Sales. This person will have ownership of driving Undertone?s Midwest team?s revenue in a changing digital media landscape. This individual will act as a leader, both internally and externally, to increase understanding of how our range of digital advertising solutions can enable advertisers to engage consumers across desktops, tablets and smartphones.
Participate as a collaborative, key member of the sales leadership team to ensure business success
Lead a talented team that includes Sales Directors and Account Executives
Build and grow the sales team through proactively identifying, hiring, developing, coaching, and managing direct reports (and Account Executives via Sales Directors)
Work with the Head of Sales in developing and maintaining the overall revenue growth plan for the market and requisite reporting while ensuring efficient operations by developing a lean and effective go-to-market structure
Onboard relevant market knowledge and trends, including but not limited to evolving technologies and their management, client needs, expectations and opportunities, a shifting competitive landscape, and operational efficiencies
Develop and implement a collective strategy with agencies and advertisers to grow revenue and achieve business plan goals
Drive results through the sales region by partnering with the leadership team to establish sales goals, targets, and forecasts, and ensure that individual and company sales objectives are met or exceeded
Develop, implement and manage a consistent overall sales process, set appropriate metrics for sales pipeline management, and use sales force automation tools to effectively measure the sales team on metrics relevant to outcomes
Articulate tactical and strategic insights to Head of Sales and Executive Team that inform and direct revenue growth
Lead the sales team in maintaining open communication and collaboration with Undertone?s internal support groups (Planning, Client Services, Product Marketing, Product Development, Technology, HR) to optimize sales capabilities
Be able help set the Go2Market and Marketing strategies for the sales team
Recommend salary actions, conduct performance evaluations, and suggest transfers/promotions/terminations
Be a role model and representative of the Undertone culture, both internally and externally
Profile & Experience:
10+ years of sales experience in media with progressive leadership experience overseeing national/regional sales teams
A minimum of a Bachelor?s Degree required
Clear understanding of all media with a focus on emerging digital platforms required
Major market sales experience required
Experience leading a sales team to grow share of advertising dollars by developing a sales organization and actively participating on negotiating and closing major deals when needed
Excellent aptitude for team building, coaching, motivating, teaching, strategic thinking, business acumen, management, leadership, and sales techniques
A strong understanding of technology and the role the Product Development and Product Marketing teams play in support
Deep and broad analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills
Excellent and compelling presenter skills with a natural ability to hold strategic conversations and adjust to varying audiences
Ability to work across multiple teams internally
Ensure highly productive client relationships and strategic partnerships for the benefit of the organization
