Reporting to the SVP Market Development, the VP of payments position has responsibility for establishing and managing Vesta?s payment strategy and relationships worldwide including; entry into new geographic markets, product line development, payment cost structure optimization, compliance with relevant payment regulations and manage payment acquirer relationships. The director of payments will work closely with Vesta?s executive management team, supervise the US Payments Manager (Portland, OR), the Latin American Payments Manager (Atlanta, GA) and the European Payments Manager (located in the Ireland office).
The ideal candidate for this position will have significant experience representing a merchant?s consumer payments business including:
Card: Private label, Credit, Online Debit, Prepaid, ATM, Acquirer/Issuer
Retail: P2P, Bill Payment, Mobile Payments, Electronic Bill Presentment, Micro Payments, POS
Electronic: ACH, Domestic Wire, International Wire, Fedwire/CHIPS, SWIFT
Manage, analyze and optimize total payment costs.
Develop and deliver business solutions related to the various payment services offered by banks including electronic, card, cash, and check payment.
Consult and partner with our clients to help them develop high performance solutions to advance their industry position in payments.
Establish payment processing relationships with financial institutions in new markets and for new products.
Work closely with sales and business development personnel to support projects in new geographies and the development of new products.
Maintain ongoing relationships with payment processors / financial institutions.
Ensure compliance of Vesta?s offerings with all payment scheme regulations and guidelines, payment and financial industry security requirements and consumer privacy laws as they relate to Vesta?s operations.
Communicate Vesta?s payment and risk management expertise to financial institution underwriters
Coordinate the merchant account setup process.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding transactions and processing procedures.
Identify possible problems with internal systems, data or processes that impact payment costs and coordinate timely resolution.
Broad and strong relationships across the payments community, focused on C-suite.
Recognized thought leadership in retail, ecommerce and loyalty programs a plus.
A solid understanding of industry & country specific payment schemes for CNP and POS transactions; as well as privacy and security regulations as they apply to payment acceptance for retail, government, and tax payments.
BA/BS degree required, preferably in business, marketing or finance. MBA preferred.
Five to ten years experience in payment processing.
Excellent computer skills, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, highly organized and able to self-direct.
Experience with alternative payments categories a plus.
Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Reliable, tolerant, and determined, Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person?s point of view.
Solid understanding of how new technologies can help engage businesses and consumers. Deep understanding of the merchant payments process and an ability to connect emerging product and technology developments to client needs. An understanding of financial products and payments technology tools is critical.
Must be comfortable in the C-suite and work thoughtfully through business organizational dynamics, find the appropriate advocates and build momentum for the Vesta value proposition in these organizations.
Expert knowledge of card industry acquiring regulations and best practices combined with appropriate implementation/application of those standards.
Extensive experience in building and leading teams of agents who deliver world class experiences directly to customers.
Experienced in developing and maintaining third party relationships with card brands, payment processors and technology providers.
Full-time position ideally based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Domestic and international travel on an as needed basis. (up to 25%)
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
