This role reports into the CEO and primarily focuses on developing and implementing innovative, proactive, strategic public relations programs, supporting sales programs and our business units that communicate a shared vision, brand and awareness to the world, and eventually supporting employee engagement and investor relations. The ideal candidate is a senior-level communications executive with proven, hands-on experience both in-house and agency developing and executing brand-specific public relations campaigns.
You will be responsible for aligning our business units' public relations strategies against the overall strategic marketing plan, with the primary goal of maintaining and expanding a favorable image of the company's lines of businesses with a global audience of customers/potential customers, consumers, employees, industry analysts, the media community and the public overall. You will help manage the public relations agency relationship, agency activities and advocacy and related resources to produce optimal results, executes a strong, goals-oriented, and measurable public relations program that strengthens Care.com's positioning across all competitive markets.
Responsibilities:
-Work closely with CEO and other members of senior leadership to devise strategy and long term vision to strategically position Care.com in the marketplace; provide guidance to senior executives and business leaders to achieve desired results, develop metrics to measure success
-Develop excellent press relationships with traditional and new media; communicate with national media outlets to secure national stories that communicate key messages about Care.com.
-Develop specific plans to proactively position and raise the profile of Care.com, the CEO, and senior management to key constituencies including developing, managing and executing communications campaigns.
-Ensure collaboration between Corporate Communication, Branding and Marketing teams to leverage and maximize resources and capabilities and create a cohesive department
-Through solid strategic judgment and quick issues assessment, lead the company's proactive and reactive position on minor to major reputational management issues as needed. Closely collaborate with peers in Senior Management, Business Unit Leads, Marketing, Legal, and our Government team.
-Lead the PR team. Manage relationships with international agencies, freelancers and other partners who contribute to the PR function. Through skills and needs assessments, develop and manage a productive structure that encourages creativity and collaboration.
Requirements:
-Expected that this individual will have earned at least a bachelor's degree and possess a minimum of 15 years' public relations experience, or combined experience in corporate and agency public relations.
-Experience managing public relations for an International company
-Proven achievement in team building within a communications function; a high level of energy, commitment and enthusiasm to take on complex, challenging situations in a dynamic organization; and the ability to envision, articulate, and realize both process and program improvements within the communications department.
-Fundamental communication expertise is a must, especially exceptionally strong writing, editing and presentation skills.
-Significant experience in effectively handling high-profile communications issues, demonstrating sound judgment and persuasive counseling to senior management.
-Strong record of nurturing positive relationships with senior editors and reporters of U.S. and international news organizations and be able to develop and nurture relationships with senior management.
-Demonstrate exceptional insight and knowledge of emerging and social media.
-Strong leadership skills and strong executive presence. Confident and effective public speaking skills.
-Powerful interpersonal skills; experience in a relationship-based position that requires engaging with many stakeholders and requires effective communication skills to influence outcomes.
-Ability to juggle multiple projects through highly effective organizational skills.
-Ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently.
