Centice has a direct sales team, a growing inside sales team and indirect channel partners. Centice is looking for someone to lead and grow our sales efforts and organization. Centice is headquartered in Research Triangle Park region of NC and is backed by leading venture capital firms.
Position Overview
The VP of Sales will drive the sales direction of the company in terms of setting and meeting revenue goals, managing the sales team and doing direct sales and business development. The company is initially focused on law enforcement, defense and security markets.
General Functions / Specific Responsibilities
Work with senior management of the company to define corporate and strategic goals for sales.
Create the sales business plan, updating on a regular basis.
Use innovation, marketing, negotiation and sales skills to capture, manage, and develop federal government accounts by building relationships with high-level buying influences in key government agencies.
Pursue new OEM business opportunities for the company by building relationships with top companies in the security space
Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise the Inside Sales Representatives and maintaining appropriate staffing levels to achieve sales productivity goals.
Lead the sales team through standard sales efforts:
Utilization of a formal sales process to prospect and secure new business
Lead weekly sales meetings; review the pipeline
Prospect and close new and existing sales opportunities via data mining, cold calling and networking
Follow-up leads derives from tradeshows, referrals, incoming calls, web traffic and networking
Manage relationships with indirect sales channels such as distributors, VARs and OEM integrators.
Collaborate with cross channel partners to acquire and service new strategic contracts.
Personally pursue and close key sales opportunities and manage the sales process.
Provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas.
Deliver presentations and proposals, and develop business plans that include marketing strategies; maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and report this to the leadership staff.
Work with the Marketing team to develop, coordinate and implement marketing plans designed to maintain and increase existing business and capture new opportunities.
Develop proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFPs).
Required Skills and Abilities
Proven track record of success in selling to Federal Government and winning Federal Government contracts.
Strong understanding of law enforcement or homeland security markets
Experience selling sensors and/or analytical instruments
Demonstrated ability to lead a sales team
Proven ability to close sales prospects
Comfortable interfacing with Government Customers, Partners, and Support Teams.
Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service.
Outstanding leadership skills; a strategic business leader able to align with company?s culture and values.
Excellent presentation, negotiating and closing skills.
Excellent written communication and public speaking skills.
Strong decision-making and problem solving skills, analytical capabilities, and collaboration skills.
Education and Experience (Minimum required to perform job)
Bachelor?s degree.
MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience in the safety and security industry.
5+ years Government direct/indirect sales experience and proven track record of success.
5+ years of experience building and leading a sales team and contributing critical inputs from the market to the management team
Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions
Proficient desktop software skills, including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
Ability to travel 25%
