VP or Director of Worldwide R&D Active Semiconductors
Purposes:
Fast-growing Analog Semiconductor start-up focused on Analog Power ICs is looking for a highly motivated, HANDS-ON, and experienced Analog R&D Manager to lead our Engineering Teams. Control a team of 70 highly talented Analog / Mixed-Signal Engineers and a multi-million dollar R&D budget. Working on new product definition, design, and layout of analog power management products used in consumer electronics and industrial applications. Candidate will work closely with Product Lines, Test Engineering, Sales, and FAE Teams, by providing expertise in development and related technology for achieving our product roadmaps and revenue growth. Additionally will work with Customers, Operations, Sales and Finance to ensure that new products and projects are completed on time, within budget, and within specification.

Primary and Major Responsibilities:
Seeking a very hands-on Senior Analog & Mixed-Signal Design Manager. Daily involvement in design and architecture reviews.
Bring your creative skills to bear on the most challenging Analog Design tasks.
Attract and Hire talented Analog and Mixed-Signal Team members.
Lead, direct and mentor an Analog Design Team and layout engineers in Dallas and worldwide locations to develop new analog power products.
Lead sub-contractor efforts for IC and/or IP design, both in analog power and SoC designs.
Lead second-generation design of ARM Cortex-Mx integration with Active-Semi Analog IP. Creating advanced SoC designs.
Select the optimal design topology to achieve the best possible performance, yield, and testability.
Be the Leader who drives designs to completion in a timely manner, motivates your team, and strives for continual improvement.
Control a multi-million dollar R&D budget. Make the most effective use of the budget through new talent hiring, outsourcing non-critical functions, choosing the right processes & partners, etc.
Collaborate with Systems Engineers to validate new product definitions for analog power management ICs to achieve successful design wins with tier-1 customers.
Interface with Test & Product Engineers to develop a thorough set of characterization & test specs for new products.
Interface with Operations to implement new product introductions for mass production.
Cooperate with Sales on reference designs and promotional info for new business opportunities.
Work with HR to oversee hiring, promotions, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and terminations.
Report directly to the CEO and work closely with him to achieve maximum alignment and performance.
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
At least 15 years of relevant experience of which 5 years managing 30+ Engineers in US + international locations
Solid knowledge and experience in Analog Power IC design, including band-gap voltage references, switching voltage regulators, LDO regulators, operational amplifiers, as well as DACs and ADCs.
Mixed-Signal & MCU background knowledge helpful.
Be able to lead Analog Design Reviews and help R&D Teams answer tough circuit challenges.
Pre-requisite Skills:
Able to prioritize tasks into a logical sequence of events and be able to make realistic plans based on the required tasks and target deadlines
Experience in managing and working with design teams and customers in Asia in a multicultural environment.
International travel required (4 times annually or more).
Good teamwork, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Able to communicate and interact with all levels of customers including top management.
