Position is Permanent, Full-Time
MS in Engineering or related Scientific field
? At least 15 years of hands-on experience in a high technology field including a minimum of five years in a biotechnology development organization
? Developed projects following Product Development Processes
? Managed product release under ISO 9001/13485 guidelines
? Experienced in building and managing teams of over 30 people
? Managed department budget of over $l0 million/year
? Develop and implement policies and procedures to successfully develop systems that include instrumentation and consumables and that meet customer requirements, quality, cost and schedule
? Manage personnel and projects to meet corporate objectives for growth and profitability
? Responsible for: optimizing instrument and consumable development; continuous improvement of PDP and design excellence; improvement of current products to resolve customer complaints; department tools, training and personnel budget
? This position is a member of senior management
? Plans and coordinate all activities for new product development and support of existing products following Quality System development processes
? Documentation to support ISO 2009/13485 standards required for product realization and risk assessment
? Set objectives and measurements to support the company business plan. Identify, evaluate and implement key performance metrics (KPI?s) for development to track quality, delivery, and cost performance standards. Take actions, as necessary, to prevent and/or correct discrepancies
? Manage and direct Systems Department. Define roles and accountabilities for Systems Scientists and Systems Engineers
? Plan for Project Management Department. Define objectives, roles and structure to meet company business objectives
? Engineering and Systems Departments to optimize internal resources and deliver quality products on-time, on budget to meet customer requirements
? Key consultants; external collaborators and contractors to maximize utilization while minimizing expenses
? The balance of buy vs. make of development projects. Develop metrics to monitor and improve buy vs. make decisions to meet short and long term company objectives
? Reporting of development activities that are required by Senior. Executives and the Board of Directors
? PDP portion that is related to product development. Review and improve as required to meet business objectives
? Equipment and tools to support development activities to ensure rapid development of products at reduced design cycles and cost. Ensure proper training of personnei to maximize utilization of available equipment and tools.
? Administrative activities for effective department management, including selection and personnel development; pay and budget administration; employee safety; employee counseling and motivation; organization goals and objectives; and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the departments
? Ensure that the company develops products that meet and exceed customer expectations within agreed budgets and schedules
? Demonstrated success in development of complex products that integrate instrumentation with reagents
? Experience working with Life Science Customers, Marketing, Accounting, Research, Operations, and Human Resources
? Proven excellent management skills
? Good written and verbal communication skills in English
? Senior Management in the formulation of the corporate business plan including; project planning detailing staffing and expenses; equipment and tooling planning; estimates for new product COGs projections; headcount, and cost tracking by project/department
? Operations to ensure the timely introduction of new products into Manufacturing to meet corporate goals. Improve performance and reduce COGs of existing products.
? Field Service to reduce instrumentation down time and time to repair. Provide tools for diagnostics.
? Research to provide resources that focus on potential future products. Improve current products and work together to define and plan future products.
? Marketing to define customer requirements for new products and improve current products. Visit customer shows and conferences to improve company image and support.
? Ability to perform independently and as part of a cross functional team
? Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, personable manner
