The Vice President of R&D is responsible for leading the TripIt Product and Engineering organizations, and for overseeing all aspects of product development and delivery, from roadmap, specification, design, and development through to full release to over 6 Million users of TripIt, TripIt Pro, and TripIt For Business. Successful candidates would apply years of engineering expertise and product insight as Concur continues to leverage its consumer brand to transform the experience for business travelers world-wide. Ideal candidates must have demonstrated success at identifying, defining and launching new online consumer products and services. We?re looking for someone who is driven to solve consumer problems and design exceptional consumer experiences. This role would ensure that the resources of the product and engineering functions are allocated and managed appropriately to produce product solutions in a timely, high quality manner that meet the needs of the business and the users. We need a creative thinker who can combine imagination, past experience, and solid analysis to support new ideas. We?re also looking for someone who knows how to quickly put ideas into action by driving the prioritization and development process. This person must love measuring business results and turning customer feedback into action plans. And it helps to be passionate about travel!
Highly qualified candidates will have a background in product and engineering management for consumer products, supporting products with frequent incremental releases and rapidly growing teams. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of R&D.
Responsibilities:
Define and own the product roadmap and all aspects of product development and prioritization, including roadmap, requirements, specification, user interface design, software design, and engineering. Work with our QA and Hosted Operations organizations to ensure high levels of quality and service delivery.
Sets and executes on overall strategic direction for the R&D organization and a strong participant in Concur?s overall travel and expense consumer strategy.
Collaborate with the other key executives within R&D, Product Marketing, and other organizations to identify product features and development timelines.
Identify and measure key performance metrics (user growth, conversion, revenue, repeat rate, churn, etc.)
Balance near-term and future revenue opportunities against user acquisition and other success metrics when generating roadmap and execution plans
Select, train, motivate and develop the R&D leadership team.
Continually ensure that the organizational structure, methodologies and processes within R&D are optimized to deliver the product solutions required by the business.
Create and manage the R&D budget to ensure that overall department objectives are being met.
Position Requirements
Education, Experience & Training required:
BS or BA in Computer Science or relevant field. Master?s degree a plus.
Five or more years of managing a large engineering organization for design, development and testing of consumer software products.
Previous experience managing multiple resources and projects required.
7+ year?s prior software development experience.
Experience managing or engaging in significant collaboration with the product management and/or product marketing function
Ability to pass a background check.
Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency establishing medium to long term strategic development plans.
Demonstrated ability to drive the entire product lifecycle, from conception to launch and post-launch evaluation and improvement
Successful experience identifying and implementing process measurements that provide department staff tools to achieve strategic goals.
Strong understanding of engineering, product design and user experience
Skilled in collecting, synthesizing and responding to input from multiple sources (users, testers, engineering, competitive products, management, etc.)
Experience building, mentoring and managing a team of diverse skill sets and experience
Demonstrated ability to define and manage to a complex budget.
Demonstrated successful ability to negotiate, analyze and interpret complex documents and contracts.
Proven ability to build strong R&D leadership teams.
Demonstrated ability to compose persuasive documents, speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, product teams, and customers.
Travel industry experience a plus, but not required
