In-depth knowledge of network security and firewall technology
Switching and routing configuration and protocols / VLAN
VPN and WAN configuration and administration
Strong problem solving skills
VoIP and IP telephony configuration and installation experience
Experience in Linux networking and routing tables
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implementation, and maintenance of ship-side network and how it relates to the shore-side infrastructure
Write and maintain programming for Cisco equipment implementations
Establish process documentation for network equipment and software
Perform daily operation with the iDirect Network Monitoring System tools
Configuration management and monitoring of IP equipment to include equipment on customer vessels
Establish and maintain professional working relationship with network providers including teleport and ISP staff
Provide third level support for networking issues and other general communications issues
Education, Experience, and Job Knowledge
BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5 years networking experience
CCNA/NP, MCSE, certifications a plus
