ServiceNow is currently seeking a Network Operations Centre Technician. As a key member of the Global Operations Team, the Network Operations Centre Technician's responsibilities will include monitoring and managing the health of applications, networks and system infrastructure, creating reports outlining the alarms, personnel contacted, customer notifications, as well as escalations to various external and internal organisations. The content of this information should be accurate, timely and be brief while conveying the tasks as they are completed.
Responsibilities
This position requires a great deal of flexibility in schedule as the NOC operates 24/7, shifts will include weekend working.
- Must be able to analyze alarm conditions as presented by various internal and external management systems, and begin triage efforts to assist with troubleshooting of the affected application or infrastructure
- Update assigned incidents in a timely manner, as well as perform any escalations to customers, vendors, and management until the issue is resolved
- Often first point of contact for our customers and may require performing proactive and follow up calls to customers, to ensure they are informed and satisfied
- Creating and sending proactive notification to customers of any service effecting events that may impact their services
- Provide assistance and support to other team members as required during critical outages
Experience Required
- Minimum 12-18 months experience working within a Network Operations Center, Technical Support or a similar role
- Good academic background with a degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computing or a relevant field
- Knowledge of Linux kernel, command line and systems diagnostics (RHCT certification preferred, not required)
- Basic understanding on network monitoring concepts and management tools such as Nagios, SNMP, MRTG or RRD
- Exposure to scripting tools (Perl, Bash) and other web application languages (SQL, PHP)
- Experience with analyzing system and network performance using monitoring and graphical data
- Desired skills:
- Time management, project tracking and excellent organizational skills essential
- Willingness to work varied shifts and weekends
- Outstanding customer service and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Positive "can do" attitude
