Web Applications Developer Front Porch

SUMMARY
The Web Applications Developer builds web based tools, reports, and other systems to support the Front Porch operations team. The Web Applications Developer also acts as an auxiliary systems administrator and DBA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
These duties may be performed individually, as part of a team or in cooperation with customers.
Information Development:
Interacts with customers and/or FP employees to determine information and data requirements to support business operations.
Writes reports and tools based on requirements, or on an Ad-Hoc basis.
Familiarity with open source technologies for networking, data processing, and APIs.
Designs and supports systems that allow others to build reports and have self service data options.
Administration:
Operates as an auxiliary systems administrator and DBA.
Installs code, troubleshoots production issues, and is an on-call member of the Data Services team.
Provides proactive observation of the production environment with a focus on preventive action.
Personal and Project Management:
Manages personal projects and operates in an environment where a high level of self accountability is needed.
Takes ownership of issues, rather than tasks, and works with other employees to resolve those issues.
Uses creative skills to develop solutions to issues facing Operations teams.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
This position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a AS degree in Computer Science.
Requires 2 or more years of software development experience.
Successful track record of completed projects
Strong technical documentation skills required.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills desired.
Ability to learn new systems quickly.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to communicate effectively using verbal or written means.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to demonstrate exceptional reasoning skills in day-to-day troubleshooting operations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Technical certifications are a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position may require the employee to spend extended periods of time in climate-controlled environments (data centers, server rooms, etc.).
The position will require the employee to spend extended periods of time entering and monitoring data on Personal Computers.
