Position Statement:The Web Developer will be focused on design, development, and implementation of projects on Internet Broadcasting's new platform. You will be working on a project team, producing and maintaining web sites using modern practices and current coding standards. You will help enable Hearst Television (HTV) to manage their websites and their content in accordance with existing internal standards and external best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Work with our HTV, designers, project and product managers, and internal development team to analyze, recommend and implement improved workflows and website features.
-Responsible for the production and maintenance of HTV sites using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and a proprietary content management system.
-Develop innovative, low-cost and low-maintenance solutions.
-Excellent communication: must be able to communicate technical concepts to management, staff and customers.
Qualifications:
Experience/Education:
-Advanced skills in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (3+ years).
-Proficiency and knowledge of web development, design technologies (2+ years).
-Must be proficient with web usability and navigation standards, including web browser features and limitations.
-Understanding of Object-Oriented programming concepts.
-Capable of operating effectively with a team in a highly dynamic, deadline-driven software development environment.
BS/MS-level degree or corresponding education/knowledge/relevant work experience in software design.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates having experience in:
-AJAX/HTML 5
-JSP
-JAVA
-Source version control software (CVS, SVN, Git)
-XML/JSON
-JQuery
-IntelliJ IDEA
-Twitter Bootstrap
-Enterprise-level CMS systems
-Understanding of Agile or iterative methodologies.
-Ant / Maven
-Experience with media players including streaming media, flash and embeddable applications.
-Design Patterns
-Web Services (REST/SOAP)
-Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Fisheye/Crucible, Jira, Bamboo)
-Experience with major news portals
-UI/UX experience
-Unix command-line experience
