Join a sharp, fun team doing challenging work supporting world class science and technology. As part of the Center for Computational Science at the US Naval Research Laboratory you will build websites and web based applications for a variety of purposes. Current projects support Nano-science, IT & physical security, training, autonomous robotics and more. Seriously, it's a great place to work. Even the sys-admins are nice.The team at NRL uses the LAMP stack and generally embraces open source. Content management has been moving to Drupal. There are lots of opportunities to learn and grow professionally including annual training of your choosing.
Developers generally have a lot of autonomy and responsibility. In other words you'll have interesting problems to solve and the latitude to come up with the best solution. There are lots of opportunities to learn and grow professionally including annual training of your choosing.
While this position is full time at NRL, it is not a government position. You'll be a government contractor employed by Zurka Interactive. Zurka provides a full benefits package, has a training budget for it's employees and even sponsors a week-long in-house hack-a-thon once a year where the team puts together a crazy project with cutting edge technology. The hack-a-thon ends with a demo party for friends and family of everyone involved.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education
BS Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Solid web development experience could serve as a substitute.

US Citizenship is a requirement. You'll also need to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
