This position is part of RIM's recently acquired Gist group, located in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square. In this role you will experience the best of the start-up Agile environment, while working directly on systems that support millions of users. We work in a dynamic environment that utilizes multiple programming languages on various platforms including cloud services, browser extensions and mobile devices. Our product is an extremely powerful "personal relationship management" application that aggregates all your contacts (Outlook, Gmail, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter?), all their updates (news, blogs, tweets, Facebook updates) and delivers you the most important information about your key relationships wherever you need it.
POSITION SUMMARY
Does working on creating a web browser experience that leaves other competitors in the dust appeal to you? If so, bring your web development ideas, skills, and drive to our R&D team in Seattle where you will be responsible for working on the next generation BlackBerry/GIST social media infrastructure. You will be part of a small team focused on making the web interface for our product, . Our focus is developing innovative solutions to server-side, large scale deployment, highly available software solutions. We strive to convert complex problems into simple and elegant code.
The team is highly collaborative, so excellent communication skills are needed to bounce ideas off each other, and the whiteboard becomes one of your most valuable tools. The team is self organizing in an agile development model, so working independently and as a group is something we focus on. Enjoy owning and solving problems while taking the code to the next level.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer candidates that can implement base level designs using CSS/HMTL/Javascript
Experience designing applications for mobile devices is an asset (mobile, Flash & AIR development)
Experience creating prototypes using Flash, PhotoShop, Illustrator, or other tools
Related post-secondary education in graphic design, information design, interaction design, or human-computer interaction
5+ years experience working in a professional environment on interaction design
Experience creating polished design concepts and storyboards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present ideas effectively
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at once in collaborative, fast-paced environments
Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills to translate requirements into designs
Strong product management skills and ability to translate market requirements into product specifications
Ability to create iconography and graphics
Must be passionate about user-centered design
A portfolio of work is required for candidates selected for interviews
