Quantcast seeks a talented devops engineer to improve, maintain and monitor our global, high-traffic website. Equally as important, we are looking for someone that understands the importance of both the development and operations disciplines in order to successfully facilitate a reliable, iterative release and deployment process characteristic to a fast-paced startup.The ideal candidate for this role will have significant experience maintaining mission-critical web applications and tuning various underlying services. They will be a tools builder at heart, creating automation for redundant tasks and to ensure a rapid, smooth release cycle. This person will be a process-champion, confident in their ability to get team buy-in to do things the right way.
This is an opportunity to be one of the founding members of the website DevOps team at Quantcast, to implement many processes using innovative and cutting-edge devops techniques from scratch, and, ultimately, to have a major impact on the success of our large-scale web applications and their development.
Responsibilities:
Deploy, monitor, and administer a high profile website and its underlying critical services
Work with web-dev team on continuous deployment architectures
Develop innovative solutions to large-scale data transfer challenges
Improve the performance of our web applications and solve scaling issues
Develop automation and improvements to our deployment, monitoring, and testing processes
Qualifications:
Extensive experience supporting web applications in either the Java or LAMP stacks
Proficient in Python, Ruby or Perl and some familiarity with Java
Expertise in modern deploy and release processes (e.g. agile; continuous integration; git; code reviews)
Proficient in using command line tools to quickly summarize, triage, and fix production issues: (e.g. lsof, awk, netstat, find, etc)
Experience with monitoring technologies (e.g. daemontools, Nagios, Ganglia)
Deep understanding of all things 'web' -- HTTP, HTML, DNS, etc.
Willing to serve as part of an on-call rotation
Bachelor's Degree in CS, EE or related field desired, or equivalent experience
