OSITION OVERVIEWThe Performance Engineering team at EdgeCast Networks provides several key functions that constantly elevates the performance of the Content Delivery Network (CDN). Team members work very closely with network, system and development resources to solve performance related issues that could impact the internet's top websites. Most importantly, this team is mandated to be owners of these key deliverables:
Resolve complex performance issues related to delivery of content on the EdgeCast Network
Identify system bottlenecks and take the lead on resolving those issues
Interface with EdgeCast customers to resolve specific performance issues
Research customer usage patterns and implement changes as needed
Work with independent 3rd party monitoring companies to correctly manage results
Identify capacity constraints and work within a team environment to resolve them
Develop and maintain system capacity models
THE SKILLS
Degree in Computer Science ideally with a mathematical background
Experience in a performance analysis role utilizing a distributed network utilizing proxy caches and streaming media
Thoroughly familiar with HTTP headers, CDN technology
Specific experience with 3rd party performance management technology from Gomez, Keynote and providers
Good familiarity with network routing protocols
Ability to program in Perl is helpful
High level of attention to detail and follow up for investigation and resolution
Needs to be familiar with LINUX and Windows operating systems
Self motivated individual who is passionate about performance
