Haiku Deck is looking for a passionate web developer to help us make our service even better by extending the functionality to the web and beyond. Every day, our search algorithms are delivering thousands of creative-commons licensed images to help our users tell their stories. Our vision is to build a world-class image search service to instantly deliver relevant, high-quality images to our customers across a variety of platforms.Responsibilities
Owning the architecture and development for all aspects of the Haiku Deck search platform. Ideal candidates must thrive in the startup culture of sweat and constant innovation.
There will be a heavy reliance on web service coding, database (MySQL, nosql) management and API integration and report generation
This person must understand and manage to significant scaling growth
We are looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of search and large data set analysis as well as the chops to manage the supporting infrastructure.
Skills
Technology understanding of Javascript, CouchDB, Memcache, MVC Design Patterns w/ Zend Framework
Ability to manage multiple and concurrent LAMP, Open Source, Real-time technology projects
Previous startup experience is a strong plus
Comfortable working with huge data sets and massively high concurrent-user load
Comfortable managing servers in distributed hosting environments.
Qualities
Must be wise in the ways of web development. Can you architect a system in a manner that fulfills its purpose while remaining extensible and scalable? Does your code work on a majority of platforms consistently? When is it appropriate to roll your own or use an off the shelf solution?

Must be professional. We're a tiny team. We'll be counting on you to deal with ambiguity, solve-problems, and work with little direction. Can you stay motivated and organized when things get crazy? Must have a sense of humor. We believe in having fun here in the office.
Must be ready to learn quickly from the best. Our team brings tons of real-world and startup experience to the table. We've launched products for Microsoft, Cranium, GoMiles.com, and others. There's minimal documentation when you're building the future. Can you share your knowledge efficiently, do you already know it all?
Experience
5+ years of Web development experience. Show us what you've done.
Compensation
This is a full-time position starting immediately. Pay will include a mix of salary and equity depending on level of experience.
