Job Description:
Job Summary:
Avalara is looking for a talented web UI Designer to be part of an amazing marketing technology team tasked to create a wholly unique and industry leading user experience.
Job Duties:
? Be part of a team to design and implement next-gen B2B service and its delivery in web and mobile apps
? This is a hybrid web design and development role.
? Manage the web design discovery phase, including audience research, user stories, site maps, wireframes and mockups.
? Produce production-ready HTML and CSS, with Javascript a plus.
? Work with team members to build new landing page and website layouts in HTML5 / CSS3 / jQuery 2.0 with backward compatibility to IE8.
? Iterative improvements to existing HTML, CSS and Javascript.
? Work with the team to improve UX in our conversion funnels, including forms and checkout processes.
? Able to shift between a creative and a technical focus depending on the project need and/or the type of project
? Able to take initiative to research and learn emerging technologies
? Work with developers, system engineers, and QA engineers throughout the product development, testing, and implementation phases to ensure product integrity
? Stay current on technical advancements and suggest ways to streamline tasks and processes for efficiency.
? Must have a good understanding of user interface standards, limitations, and technologies
Experience and Skills:
Outstanding eye for layout, typography and overall web design.
A strong portfolio of web and other digital designs
Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and scope design work
Passion for web standards, trends and technology
Mastery of Photoshop, Illustrator, and other standard design software
Strong written & oral communication as well as presentation skills
A Plus: Three years hand-coding HTML, CSS, jQuery and other UI technologies
Bachelor's degree in computer science, digital design or equivalent work experience
Solid understanding of modern agile product development processes
Must be able to work with both technical and non-technical individuals, in gathering information and communicating status
