Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for incoming helpdesk requests through our internal ticket tracker.
Assist in the implementation of IT services as guided by senior IT staff.
Assist in tracking log alerts to allow for preventative maintenance.
Assist in maintaining servers, workstations, network configurations, and other electronic communication devices in a mid-sized enterprise network.
Troubleshoot network and desktop performance issues, escalating issues when necessary.
Maintain backup procedures and assist in disaster recovery plans.
Maintain backup tape library and administrate tape rotations.
Maintain procedural documentation with assistance of senior IT staff.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of on-site server room.
Support and enforce company information policies and procedures.
Assist in maintaining network applications and services (DNS, AD, Wiki, network storage) as a frontline technician.
Required Knowledge:
Hands-on lab or production experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or greater in an Active Directory environment.
Hands-on day to day experience with Microsoft Windows client OS? (XP Professional and 7 Professional.)
Apple Mac OS X use or admin experience a plus.
Troubleshooting WiFi connectivity
Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook.
Exchange 2010 experience a plus
Required Skills & Abilities:
Prepared to work in a heterogeneous network and server environment and be willing to provide hands-on support of technologies when necessary.
Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
An analytical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
An enthusiastic can-do attitude with a willingness to sometimes think outside the box to resolve IT problems.
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience
IT certifications (CCNA, MCSE, RHCSA or RHCE, LPI, Net+ or A+) a plus
Required Experience:
0-2 years of IT experience in a directed environment.
1-2 years of Microsoft Windows Server administration experience
Some experience with VMware or other similar virtualization technologies.
0-2 years of assisting in network administration with Cisco layer 2 and layer 3 switching equipment.
