Winter, Spring 2012 - Campaigns, Social Media, and Causes Paid Internships Care2
Care2.com is recruiting new interns to help us spread the word about the great work our nonprofit partners are doing on Care2, bring progressive, green people to Care2 to take action, and bring Care2 to people who care about making a difference - wherever they are online. We are also recruiting interns to work with our progressive blogging channel, Care2 Causes.
You are a strong writer, savvy about social networking, passionate about nonprofit issues, comfortable with HTML and web graphic production, and enjoy promoting progressive issues and engaging with an online community on issues ranging from environmental to consumer protection, human rights to animal welfare. These internships will begin in early September.
As a Care2 Campaign Intern, you will:
Support the Care2 campaign team's efforts to provide fast and high-quality advocacy, membership recruitment and fundraising campaigns for nonprofit clients
Research progressive legislation in Congress and urgent advocacy topics, monitoring news and blogs daily for compelling campaigns;
Write and edit Care2 action alerts, newsletters and blogs;
Monitor social media outlets to better understand how users are talking about and using Care2, and for which issues people are passionate about;
Communicate with Care2 activist petition authors to help them promote their petitions;
Blog on Care2 and potentially elsewhere about Care2 campaigns and progressive issues;
Write and promote Care2 success stories;
Have fun making the world a better place!
The Campaigns Intern reports to the Community Activism Manager, and works with the entire Campaigns Team.
As a Care2 Social Media Intern, you will:
Engage Care2's audience on Facebook and Twitter with compelling content and actions
Grow Care2's social media presence
Write and edit Care2 action alerts and blogs that are likely to be very popular on Facebook and other social media platforms
Monitor social media outlets to better understand how users are talking about and using Care2, and for which issues people are passionate about;
Communicate with activist petition authors who are using Facebook promote their petitions;
Blog on Care2 and potentially elsewhere about Care2 campaigns and progressive issues;
Write and promote Care2 success stories;
Have fun making the world a better place!
The Campaigns Intern reports to the Community Activism Manager, and works with the entire Campaigns Team.
As a Care2 Causes Intern, you will:
Monitor content partner sites for posts that will appeal to the Care2 Causes audience
Copy edit posts, find and prepare photos, schedule posting times
Write and edit Care2 petitions and blogs on breaking issues
Monitor the popularity of posts to measure the interests of the audience
Blog about Care2 campaigns and progressive issues;
Write and promote success stories;
Have fun making the world a better place!
The Causes Intern reports to the Causes Managing Editor, and works with the entire Causes Team.
Internship Qualifications
Student actively enrolled in coursework and seeking to complete school internship credit in a relevant field (such as journalism, marketing, political science, women's studies, environmental studies).
Strong writing and editing skills.
Knowledge of social networks and social media tools including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, StumbleUpon, Digg and MySpace.
Proficiency in HTML and web graphics production using Adobe Photoshop and/or ImageReady
Knowledge of basic office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Enthusiasm for Care2?s nonprofit issues and campaigns.
